If Courmayeur were to be judged purely on its pisted runs (largely intermediate and relatively short), the skiing is quite limited in comparison to some of its larger alpine neighbours, but the same cannot be said for its mountain restaurants. No other resort can boast the amazing statistic of having more mountain restaurants than ski lifts, with 23 eating places and 22 lifts. This not only sheds light on the Italian ski mentality, but is also one of the many reasons why Courmayeur qualifies as one of the best resorts in Europe.
Located just 20 mins the other site of the Mt Blanc massif through the famous Mt Blanc tunnel Courmayeur boasts several other attractions to winter and summer holidays seekers.
Val Ferret, just before the village of Courmayeur is a pristine, un-spoilt cross country skiing Mecca. It has some of the best and most varied XC facilities in and around the Mt Blanc area.
One of the teams' favorite reasons for going thorough the tunnel is to relax and unwind at the Spa at Pre Saint Didier (http://www.termedipre.it). Great value for money and recently rennovated.

Les Contamines transfers
Les Contamines is one of the best kept secrets in the Mt Blanc area. With terrain, both on and off piste, to suit all it is very well rounded and is ideally suited to well... everyone.

Flaine & Samoens
Being the centre piece of the Grand Massif ski area Flaine is known as the white dessert due to its vast open ski fields. Its architecture is not the most desirable with concrete structures abound. Recently Flaine has been given a face lift with the "Flaine foret" area whose aesthetics are more Canadian or Norwegian log cabin style, a refreshing change.
Being linked to the more traditional ski towns of les Carroz, Samoens and Morillion it give access to over 250km of linked pistes. Great restaurants are worth sniffing out in the lower reaches of Flaine on the decent to Carroz.
